  6. Stenotrophomonas maltophilia is an emerging multidrug-resistant global opportunistic pathogen. The increasing incidence of nosocomial and community-acquired S. maltophilia infections is of particular concern for immunocompromised individuals, as this bacterial pathogen is associated with a significant fatality/case ratio.

  7. Discussão. O perfil de sensibilidade apresentado pelos isolados de S.maltophilia neste estudo foi compatível com o característico desse agente, apresentando baixos níveis de sensibilidade aos antibióticos betalactâmicos e betalactâmicos associados a inibidores de betalactamase e melhor sensibilidade a SMX-TMP e fluoroquinolonas (1, 2, 4, 17).
