Hace 2 días · Film: A Queen’s Ransom is released on limited edition Blu-ray on Eureka’s Classics range on 27 May 2024. The brand new 2K restoration looks fabulous, rich in detail and colours, with no blemishes and consistently strong picture quality. There are a choice of the original Mandarin audio and the English dubbed audio, both of which are great.
Hace 21 horas · Slacker is out on 17th June on Blu-Ray in the UK, released by The Criterion Collection. Presented in its original 1.33:1 aspect ratio, the film handles its heavy 16mm grain effectively. Colours are pleasing and it’s a clean picture, so I can’t imagine the film looking much better. The audio is very strong too.

Hace 5 días · Again, it’s a storyline ripe with potential and The Mark of the Whistler does it justice, with Dix playing a far more morally ambiguous character this time round. The resolution of this entry is a little pat and lighthearted but it fits with the film’s tone. From this point on the Whistler series darkens considerably.

Hace 21 horas · The Crazy Family is out on 17th June on region free Blu-ray, released by Third Window Films as part of their Director’s Company collection. The transfer is impressive. Grain is well-handled and the colours are vivid. I had no problems with the audio either. There are several special features included on the disc:
