Hace 5 días · In 1628 Edward Lord Dudley conveyed the rectory and tithes to Sir Miles Hobart, probably for a certain term of years only, since, although they were in the possession of the Hobart family in 1668, they were afterwards again held by Lord Dudley and commuted in 1783 when the parish was inclosed in return for the allotment of a certain portion of the common land.

He established a small but thriving plantation and settled into the life of a planter. In 1776, he was appointed a lieutenant colonel in the 2nd Regiment of South Carolina.
