Gilles Francis Charles Bensimon was born on February 29, 1944 in Vic-sur-Cère in the south of France. Due to a severe reading and spelling disability, his mother advised him to prefer expressing himself artistically − just as his artistic family had already shown him. Bensimon bought a camera and took photographs of his brother.
