A pair of cops investigating a drug invasion stumble upon a mysterious bank vault. Waters and Stone are two nobody police officers who work in the evidence room of the Las Vegas Police Department. When Stone discovers an unusually high bail receipt in connection to a drug bust, the two friends set in motion a plan to find the source of the money.
The Trust is a mostly standard, rarely surprising crime comedy that aptly applies the buddy comedy formula in form of a team-up between Nicolas Cage and Elijah Wood. The big surprise here is that, unlike everything else Cage did throughout this last decade, The Trust actually looks like everyone involved did a competent job.
