3 de dic. de 2014 · America’s entry into World War II offered her a way to change her life. During the following 18 months, she quit Vassar, divorced her husband, and at age 36 joined the U.S. Navy. She was sent to the Naval Reserve Midshipmen’s School at Smith College in Massachusetts, and in June 1944 graduated first in her class as Lt. Grace Hopper.

Grace Hopper foi à Hartridge School em Plainfield, Nova Jersei. Foi inicialmente rejeitada no processo de admissão no Vassar College aos 16 anos (suas notas em latim eram baixas), sendo admitida no ano seguinte.
