13 de may. de 2022 · The plate has the mark of L.B. Binsse & Co. N.Y., a maker of daguerreotype plates that operated from 1844 to 1848. Paperwork documenting the piece provides few additional details, but there is a note suggesting that the man pictured is a relative of Jesse Root Grant, father of Ulysses.
Biography. Jesse was the son of Ulysses S. Grant and Julia (Dent) Grant. He was born in 1858 at St. Louis, Missouri and was named after his paternal grandfather. Jesse was just six years old when he, along with his mother, joined General Grant at City Point, Virginia in 1864 where he was "practically a front-line witness to the Civil War." [1]

This football game at Franklin Field in Philadelphia was an annual occurrence. Given the appearance of Julia, Fred's daughter, and Fred, I would say the date is closer to 1912 than 1905.
From 1859 to 1873 this was the home of Jesse Root and Hannah (Simpson) Grant, parents of General Ulysses S. Grant, 18th President of the United States. Jesse served as the Postmaster of Covington from 1866 to 1872. Gen. Grant's sister, Mary, lived here with her husband, Rev. Michael Cramer, who served as United States Minister to Denmark.
