Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (Franz August Karl Albert Emanuel; 26 August 1819 – 14 December 1861) was the husband of Queen Victoria. As such, he was consort of the British monarch from their marriage on 10 February 1840 until his death in 1861.
Clotilde was the third child and eldest daughter of Prince August of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and his wife Princess Clémentine of Orléans. Her youngest brother was Ferdinand I of Bulgaria. Clotilde married Archduke Joseph Karl of Austria, second son of Archduke Joseph, Palatine of Hungary and his wife Duchess Maria Dorothea of Württemberg, on 12 May 1864 in Coburg.
Princess Clotilde was the third child and eldest daughter of Prince Augustus of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha and Princess Clémentine, daughter of Louis-Philippe, King of the French. She married, in 1864, Archduke Joseph of Austria (1833 – 1905) with whom she had two sons and five daughters. Dated on the obverse in grey paint: 7 th April / 1859.
