Since 1837, Durham Castle has been home of University College, the oldest of Durham University's Colleges. Often mistaken for simply halls of residence, colleges are much more about belonging to a community, with a common identity, traditions, sports teams, societies and activities. Durham's colleges and your application College membership. All students at Durham University are members of one of our colleges. Colleges are residential communities that offer student-led opportunities and events in drama, music, sport and volunteering, as well as a wide range of other activities and facilities.
Applications will be assessed by a panel of University College staff and, where relevant, representatives of the college’s external bodies (such as the University College Durham Trust, Durham Castle Society or the College Advisory Board). Please note that for some of the awards above, we may take your academic achievements into consideration.
