He was born in Philadelphia, and studied at Goddard College in Vermont. After learning to play banjo, he moved to New York City, [2] where he co-founded The Journeymen with John Phillips and Scott McKenzie in 1961. The group recorded three albums and seven singles for Capitol Records before breaking up in 1964. [3]
Some journeymen also go on to become contractors or business owners. This requires not only expertise in their trade, but also a strong understanding of business principles and management. Journeymen who choose this path must be able to balance their technical skills with the demands of running a successful business.
