With the approval of Henry VIII Dorset married in 1533-4 Frances, the elder daughter of Charles Brandon, duke of Suffolk, by Mary Tudor, younger sister of Henry VIII. By his fathers wishes he had previously been contracted, and probably married, to a daughter of Lord Arundel, but with some difficulty, and by the payment of a large sum of money, he managed to free himself from his first wife.
Eldest son of 2nd Earl Grey, succeeded his father in 1845; styled Viscount Howick 1807-1845. Married Maria Copley. No children. Elected M.P. for Winchelsea 1826, Higham Ferrers 1830, Northumberland 1831, Northumberland Northern Division 1832-1841, Sunderland 1841.
Anchetil de Greye (c. 1052 – after 1086) is listed in the Domesday Book as the lord of six Oxfordshire manors. His descendant Sir Henry de Grey was the first of the Anglo-Norman Grey family who were called to parliament, raised to the peerage, married into royalty, appointed army generals, and consecrated bishops, as well as later distinguishing themselves in other professions.
