But today, on October 18, we celebrate her birth and all the great music she gave us. Songs that will live on as her mark on the world. This resulted in a unique sound, one that drew from contemporary singer-songwriters but was also heavily influenced by soul music; it meant that her work was covered by some of the greatest soul singers of all time , including Thelma Houston, The Staple Singers, and The Supremes.
On April 14th, 2012, Laura Nyro received a long awaited induction into the Rock-and-Roll Hall of Fame..
