Thomas FitzGerald, 10th Earl of Kildare (1513 – 3 February 1537), also known as Silken Thomas ( Irish: Tomás an tSíoda ), was a leading figure in 16th-century Irish history .
By 1537, the rebellion failed and Thomas FitzGerald, 10th Earl of Kildare was hanged, age 23, at Tyburn (London) along with 5 of his uncles for crimes of rebellion against Henry VIII. His body was buried in the priory of the Crutched Friars situated on Tower Hill.
Thomas Fitzgerald, 10th earl of Kildare was the leader of a major Irish rebellion against King Henry VIII of England. The failure of the uprising ended the Fitzgerald family’s hereditary viceroyalty of Ireland and led to the tightening of English control over the country.

23 de may. de 2018 · Fitzgerald, Thomas, 10th earl of Kildare [I] (1513–37). In 1534 Fitzgerald's father, the 9th earl, was recalled as lord deputy to England and imprisoned in the Tower in disgrace. Fitzgerald, then Lord Offaly, had been appointed deputy by his father.
