George C. Scott poursuit son ascension avec Le dernier de la liste (Huston, 1963) et surtout Docteur Folamour (Kubrick, 1964). On le retrouve dans Petulia (Lester, 1968), avant la révélation de Patton (Schaffner, 1970) qui lui permet d’obtenir l’Oscar du meilleur acteur, statuette qu’il n’est jamais venu chercher.
