Popular reviews. A life-affirming, empathetic work. This is as good as it gets in terms of Tim Burton, but it's also one of the greatest films of the 1990s, so it's no small feat. Watching it, all I could do is marvel at the glorious monochrome imagery, towering performances, and Burton's warmth and care for the subject and the aesthetic.
