Henry Campbell-Bannerman. (1836–1908). British statesman Henry Campbell-Bannerman served as prime minister of Great Britain from 1905 to 1908. He took the lead in granting self-government to the British-ruled South African Republic (also called Transvaal) in 1906 and the Orange Free State (Orange River Colony) in 1907.
