Francis Stewart 6th Earl of Bothwell was born about 1584, in Coldingham, Berwickshire, Scotland as the son of Francis Hepburn Stewart 5th Earl of Bothwell and Margaret Douglas Countess Of Bothwell. He married Isabel Seton Montgomerie of Winton, Countess of Perth on 2 August 1614, in Seton, Haddingtonshire, Scotland.

  6. Francis Stewart, 5th Earl of Bothwell (c.December 1562 – November 1612) was Commendator of Kelso Abbey and Coldingham Priory, a Privy Counsellor and Lord High Admiral of Scotland. Like his stepfather, Archibald Douglas, Parson of Douglas, he was a notorious conspirator, who died in disgrace.
