Scroop Egerton was born on 11 August 1681, the third son of John Egerton, 3rd Earl of Bridgewater, and his second wife, Lady Jane Paulet. His maternal grandparents were Charles Paulet, 1st Duke of Bolton , and his second wife, Mary Scrope , natural daughter of Emanuel Scrope, 1st Earl of Sunderland .

Scroop Egerton, 1st Duke of Bridgewater, was born 11 August 1681 to John Egerton, 3rd Earl of Bridgewater (1646-1701) and Jane Paulet (c1655-1716) and died 11 January 1745 of unspecified causes. He married Elizabeth Churchill (1686-1714) 9 February 1703 .
Born on the 21st May 1736, Lord Francis Egerton was a British nobleman of the Egerton family. The youngest son of Scroop Egerton, the 1st Duke of Bridgewater. After the death of his father in 1745 and then his older brother only three years later Francis became the 3rd Duke of Bridgewater at the tender age of twelve.
