Despite the fact he was brother to the king, Edmund Tudor had no claim on the English throne whatsoever. She was just 12 years of age when she married Edmund Tudor.

En 1464 los partidarios de Enrique VI lanzaron desde Francia y Escocia diversos ataques contra el nuevo rey, pero en la batalla de Hexham (1464) sufrieron una crucial derrota y meses después, en julio de 1465, Enrique VI fue capturado en Clitherwood y recluido en la Torre de Londres.
