Henry VIII, King of England (1491-1547) Henry VIII was the second son of Henry VII. When his older brother Arthur died in 1502, he became the heir to the throne, to which he ascended on his father’s death in 1509. His marriage to his brother’s widow, Catherine of Aragon, failed to produce a male heir, and Henry sought a divorce.
Henry IV (born April? 1366, Bolingbroke Castle, Lincolnshire, England—died March 20, 1413, London) was the king of England from 1399 to 1413, the first of three 15th-century monarchs from the house of Lancaster. He gained the crown by usurpation and successfully consolidated his power in the face of repeated uprisings of powerful nobles.

Despite a tenuous claim to the throne, Henry would eventually become the one to end the Wars of the Roses and establish the Tudor dynasty. On 22 August 1485 at the Battle of Bosworth Field, Richard III’s Yorkist army was defeated, Richard was killed and Henry became King of England.
Henry insisted that Mary recognise him as head of the Church of England, repudiate papal authority, acknowledge that the marriage between her parents was unlawful, and accept her own illegitimacy. She attempted to reconcile with Henry by submitting to his authority as far as "God and my conscience" permitted, but was eventually bullied into signing a document agreeing to all of Henry's demands.

14 de abr. de 2024 · Henry I 1068-1135, king, fourth son of William the Conqueror and Matilda, was born, it is said, at Selby in Yorkshire (Monasticon, iii. 485; Freeman, Norman Conquest, iv. 231, 791), in the latter half of 1068, his mother having been crowned queen on the previous Whitsunday (Orderic, p. 510).
