7 de feb. de 2023 · Madame de Montespan se jakožto členka královniny domácnosti poprvé setkala s králem na počátku 60. let 16. století. Ludvík XIV. kouzlu její neskonalé krásy propadl až v letech 1666-1667. Asi o 7 let později se pak Madame de Montespan stala královou oficiální milenkou a vytlačila tak definitivně Mademoiselle de la Vallière.

Madame de Montespan needed to look worthy of her new position, this meant gowns of the lastest fashion, she had to compete with the Comtesse de Soissons after all, a skilled maid to do her hair just perfectly, ribbons, jewels, a carriage worthy of a Marquise… she needed the money her husband was wasting on the card-tables.
Françoise di Rochechouart di Mortemart, marchesa di Montespan, detta Athénaïs (Lussac-les-Châteaux, 5 ottobre 1640 – Bourbon-l'Archambault, 26 maggio 1707), è stata una nobildonna francese, meglio conosciuta come Madame de Montespan, è stata la più famosa favorita del re Luigi XIV di Francia, al quale diede sette figli (sei dei quali legittimati).
