22 de may. de 2024 · Robert Bruce II (d.1194) Robert (II) de Bruce (Brus) was the second son of Robert (I) (d.1142), lord of Annandale, and his wife, Agnes, probable daughter of Geoffrey Bainard, sheriff of York. Upon his father's death, he inherited Annandale and Hartness in Durham. He had a brother, Adam (d.1143).
11 de may. de 2024 · On this day in Scottish History. 11 May 1141: The death at Skelton Castle, Yorkshire of Anglo-Norman magnate Robert de Brus, 1st Lord of Annandale. He was the first of the Bruce dynasty to hold lands in Scotland after he was granted the Lordship of Annandale by David I of Scotland in 1124.

Hace 4 días · Robert de Brus V is mentioned as the tenant of Hartness under Peter de Brus in 1272, and dated a charter at Hart in 1288. He died 31 March 1295, and was succeeded by his son, Robert de Brus VI, the second competitor, who married Marjory, daughter and heir of Niel Earl of Carrick, and thus brought this title into the family.

The Foundation Charter (fn. 1) records that he had founded the house by the counsel and advice of Pope Calixtus and Archbishop Thurstan.
