Orthodox Celts is a Serbian band formed in Belgrade in 1992 which plays Irish folk music combined with rock elements. Despite their uncharacteristic genre in their home country, the band is one of the top acts of the Serbian rock scene and has influenced several younger Serbian bands, most notably Irish Stew of Sindidun and Tir na n'Og .
During the 12th and 13th centuries, many icons, wall paintings and manuscript miniatures came into existence, as many Serbian Orthodox monasteries and churches such as Hilandar, Žiča, Studenica, Sopoćani, Mileševa, Gračanica and Visoki Dečani were built. The architecture of some of these monasteries is world-famous.
Modern period. 1848: Elevation to Patriarchate of Karlovci. 1879: Official autocephaly in Serbia after international recognition. 1920: Unification of the Serbian Orthodox Church ( Serbian Patriarchate ). 1945–80s: Suppression of Church by Communist regime. 1967: Unilateral establishment of the Macedonian Orthodox Church.
