Kinsey's sexual history interviews led him to conclude 5 to 22 percent of men and 2 to 6 percent of women are a "5" or "6" or almost exclusively or exclusively homosexual, leading to "Kinsey 5" and "Kinsey 6" being pride symbols. Dr. Alfred Kinsey was one of the first researchers to explore bisexuality in the U.S. Dr. Kinsey and his colleagues developed the Kinsey Scale in the 1940s, to measure and portray sexual attraction/behavior as occurring along a continuum, with a number of people falling somewhere between exclusive heterosexuality and exclusive homosexuality (The Kinsey Scale, 2017).
