Guided tours of the College AND Cathedral – 60 minutes. 60 minutes. Tickets: £24 in advance/£26 on the day. Tickets will be released online each Friday (c. 10am) for the following week. Christ Church Library. Our magnificent 18th-century library, one of the largest in Oxford, aims to supply everything undergraduates need for their courses. It's open from 8am to 1am during term time and from 9am to 5pm during vacations. There's also a specialised Law library that's open 24/7 via fob access (for Christ Church Law students only).
The College began as an S.P.G. Mission school in the 1840s to educate children and those who chose it. First called Mission School, then Christ Church School, it grew into a college affiliated first to the Calcutta University in 1866, then to the Allahabad University in 1892, later to the Agra University in 1927, and last, to the Kanpur University (now the C.S.J.M. University) in 1966.

The walls are adorned with a number of portraits, each celebrating famous members of the college from WH Auden to Professor Judith Pallot. At the far end, the founder of Christ Church, Henry VIII, is portrayed. The table at the far end of the Hall is known as High Table and it is here that senior members of the college dine.
The food at Christ Church is amongst the best and most reasonably priced in Oxford. While there are "tea points" dotted around college, there are no kitchens and so each meal is served in the Great Hall (of Harry Potter fame), creating a great community atmosphere. Christ Church College originally a tiny Anglo Indian School was founded in 1878 by Mr. H. McConoghey with only two students at Cantonment Road, Lucknow. The School was registered under the name of Christ Church McConoghey School Society, Lucknow under the societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 and governed by the Diocese of Lucknow C.N.I. having its head office at 25 M.G. Road, Allahabad.
