The Babadook is een Australische psychologische thriller - horrorfilm uit 2014, geschreven en geregisseerd door Jennifer Kent. Zij maakte hiermee in beide disciplines haar filmdebuut. La directora comentó para The Cut que sus compatriotas han desarrollado una aversión hacia todo el cine que se hace en su país debido a que solo están interesados en lo que llega del exterior.
