22 de sept. de 2020 · Born on 22 September 1791 in Newington Butts, which was once a village and is now part of London, Michael Faraday was a chemist and physicist whose ingenious experiments demonstrated the relationship between electricity and magnetism. As a boy Faraday worked for a bookbinder, a job that gave him access to books, which he read to educate himself.

Faraday, Michael (1791-1867) English bookbinder who became interested in electricity. He obtained an assistantship in Davy's lab, then began to conduct his own experiments. He wrote a review article on current views about electricity and magnetism in 1821, for which he reproduced Oersted's experiment. He was one of the greatest experimenters ever.
Michael Faraday (1791-1867) discovered many of the fundamental laws of physics and chemistry, despite the fact that he had virtually no formal education. The son of an English blacksmith, he was apprenticed at the age of 14 to a bookseller and bookbinder.

11 de oct. de 2012 · Originally apprenticed to a bookbinder, Michael Faraday (1791-1867) began to attend Sir Humphrey Davy's chemistry lectures purely out of interest. Although he soon recognised that science would be his vocation, there was no defined career path to follow, and when he applied to Davy for work he was gently told to 'attend to the bookbinding'.
