15 de feb. de 2011 · General Patton and His Dog Willie. General Patton was a bad-ass, so naturally, he had a bad-ass dog. He was a Bull Terrier, he was named after William the Conqueror, and he followed Patton everywhere. Patton and his dog had a special bond and Willie was loyal to the end. The two spit-and-polish cavalrymen spent two days together before the change of command. One of Patton’s last official acts with the Third Army was to pin the Silver Star on Master Sergeant John L. Mims, his faithful Black driver since September 1940. Patton was “terribly hurt for a few days” at losing the Third Army.
21 de jul. de 2022 · When General Patton died in 1945, his dog Willie was sent home to live with his wife and daughters. Willie died in 1955 and is buried in an unmarked grave with other family pets. Furthermore, Willie was a very special dog. He belonged to a warrior who died in battle. The warrior’s family loved Willie very much and took care of him until he died.
