  1. 8 de feb. de 2019 · Francis, Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld, eldest son of Ernest Frederick, Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld, and Sophie, daughter of Ferdinand Albert II, Duke of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, married, in 1777, as his second wife, Augusta, daughter of Henry XXIV, Count Reuss-Ebersdorff.

  2. His reign as Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld began following his father’s death in 1806, and after a territorial rearrangement in 1826, he became the first Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. He served as a Prussian general and fought against Napoleon in several battles, including Lützen, Leipzig, and the siege of Mainz.

  3. John Ernest married Catherine of Brunswick-Grubenhagen, daughter of Philip I, Duke of Brunswick-Grubenhagen, but the marriage was childless. After his death in Coburg, the city fell for a few months to John Frederick — released from the imperial detention — before his death, and then, to his three sons, which governed the Ernestine lands together from 1554 for some years.

  6. 25 de jul. de 2019 · Franz Josias and Anna Sophie had eight children: Ernst Friedrich, Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld (1724 -1800), married Sophie Antonia of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, had five sons and two daughters. Johann Wilhelm (1726 -1745), unmarried, missing in action during the Battle of Hohenfriedberg. Anna Sophie (1727 – 1728), died in infancy.
