Laws are the binding rules set by a governing authority, ranging from criminal to administrative regulations. Policies operate on a voluntary basis, lacking legal force. Laws, on the other hand, are legally binding and mandatory.
Law is composed of words or labels, but these are different from the concepts that are the building blocks of law. To see why, consider that a single label can refer to multiple concepts: a right means one thing when giving directions, but quite another when discussing the legal system.
Private Law can be defined as that part of a legal system that governs relationships between individuals, whether they be natural persons or legal entities. It primarily deals with personal, property, and liability matters, providing a framework for individuals to assert their rights, seek remedies, and resolve disputes.
