Sir Robert Burdett settled at Arrow, in Warwickshire, in the reign of Edward II. Thomas, his immediate descendant, being then of Bramcote, was created a Baronet in 1618.

The Act also empowered Langford to lay out a road from Lodge Bottom to the Witney turnpike and to line it with ornamental trees, suggesting that, as later, the formal approach to the hall was by the south drive.
