Georges Seurat, né à Paris le 2 décembre 1859 et mort le 29 mars 1891 dans la même ville, est un peintre et dessinateur français. Il est l'inventeur de la technique dite divisionniste , de division du ton, appelée également peinture optique ou chromo-luminarisme, et plus couramment pointillisme .
