5 de oct. de 2019 · Harold Rupert Leofric George Alexander, 1st Earl Alexander of Tunis KG, GCB, OM, GCMG, CSI, DSO, MC, CD, PC (Can), PC, (10 December 1891 – 16 June 1969) was a senior and highly decorated British Army officer who served in both of the world wars.
Alexander was promoted to the post of Field Marshall in 1944 and two years later was made a Viscount. From 1946 to 1952 he served as Canada’s Governor-General. He was made Earl Alexander of Tunis in 1952 and from then until 1954 he served as Minister of Defence in the Conservative cabinet under Churchill. Harold Alexander died in 1969.
