Patronage. Bohemia. Ludmila of Bohemia (c. 860 – 15 September 921) is a Czech saint and martyr venerated by the Orthodox and the Roman Catholics. She was born in Mělník as the daughter of the Sorbian prince Slavibor. [1] Saint Ludmila was the grandmother of Saint Wenceslaus, [2] who is widely referred to as Good King Wenceslaus.
12 de mar. de 2024 · Ludmilla was born about 850, the daughter of Slawibov, prince of Psov (near Melnik in Bohemia). She married Borziwoy I, duke of Bohemia, the founder of the Bohemian dynasty of Premyslid. They had two sons, Spitignew and Wratislaw, of whom the latter would have progeny.
One afternoon in the year 921, on Saturday, September 15, according to some authors, or on Sunday, September 16, according to others, St. Ludmila went to Confession and entered the castle’s chapel, where she remained prostrate before the altar for some time. She received the Holy Eucharist and remained in deep prayer.

In 2021, the reliquary containing part of her skull was scanned and the missing portion of the structure was digitally reconstructed using references from anthropological studies carried out in the late 1990s by Dr. Emanuel Vlček, Ph.D. (1925–2006).

Saint Ludmila was the grandmother of St. Wenceslas . Ludmila was married to Bořivoj I of Bohemia, who was the first Christian Duke of Bohemia. The couple were converted to Christianity around 873.
