The Christian Brothers have left a wonderful legacy and the school is now under the Trusteeship of the Edmund Rice School Trust. If this is your first contact with the Abbey let me say a few brief words of introduction. We are a praying, caring Christian community devoted to all that is best in education – in the purest sense of that word!
In 1938 St. Colman’s Abbey Primary School was opened and with this move the Brothers were at last able to offer Primary and Post Primary education on the same campus. In the old Grammar School, now beautifully restored, the fathers of many of the present pupils were educated and it was the hope and dream of pupils and teachers to, one day, move to a purpose built Grammar School.

GL Assessment administers the Abbey Christian Brothers' Grammar School Transfer Test. English and Maths tests are required for students applying for Year 8 admission. There will be MCQs questions in both tests and practice tests will be given before each test to familiarise pupils with the layout.
