Barton Fink est un film américano - britannique écrit, produit, monté et réalisé par Joel et Ethan Coen et sorti en 1991 . Dans le Hollywood des années 1940, un jeune auteur de pièces de théâtre new yorkais interprété par John Turturro, est embauché par un grand studio en tant que scénariste.
Au début des années 40. Barton Fink, un jeune dramaturge new-yorkais, qui vient de remporter un beau succès à Broadway avec sa première pièce, débarque à Hollywood. Un producteur lui propose d'écrire le scénario de son film. Installé dans un immense hôtel, l'écrivain se retrouve très vite en panne d'inspiration.
