Betty Carter 1979 (Photo: Brian McMillen) Betty Carter (* 16. Mai 1929 in Flint / Michigan als Lillie Mae Jones [1]; † 26. September 1998 in New York City) war eine US-amerikanische Jazz -Sängerin. Mit ihrem rauchig intimen Timbre galt sie als die „Stimme des Bebop “ (Ulfert Goemann).

Listening to this reminded me of this: if you want to irritate a singer, put her in an ensemble with a group of instrumentalists, and then address the group as "the musicians and the singers."

25 de ene. de 2021 · The atmosphere the music creates is delicate and enchanting. Conjures up memories of drizzly weather on a spring day, where the sun is trying to break free of clouds. At 2:56 there's a transition to a more traditional Jazz sound, with stirred snares and bigger "jazzier" chords. The bass player's tone is excellent.
