JOHN WELLES, K.G. 10th Lord Welles, married [LADY] CECILY PLANTAGENET [see YORK 13.iii]. They had two daughters Elizabeth and Ann. ELIZABETH WELLES, named in the will of her father dated 1492. She married March 1498 THOMAS STANLEY (afterwards 2nd Earl of Derby, 3rd Lord Stanley, Lord Strange of Knockin). She died the same year.

John was born about 1450 to Lionel de Welles, 6th Baron Welles and Margaret Beauchamp. He was a maternal half-brother of Margaret Beaufort, and thus an uncle of the half-blood of Henry VII.
