3 de may. de 2024 · The Big Sleep, American film noir, released in 1946, that was based on Raymond Chandler’s classic 1939 novel of the same name. It was directed by Howard Hawks, cowritten by author William Faulkner, and starred the popular team of Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall.
The Big Sleep begins at “about eleven o’clock in the morning, mid-October, with the sun not shining and a look of hard wet rain in the clearness of the foothills.” Marlowe, who narrates in the first-person, is looking dope and dashing with his suit, tie, and display handkerchief.

The 1946 version commits to their romance, and adds among other scenes one of the most daring examples of double entendre in any movie up until that time.
