Alan Leslie Barton (16 September 1953 – 23 March 1995) was a British singer and member of the hit-making duo Black Lace. Their hits included " Agadoo ", " Superman " and their United Kingdom Eurovision Song Contest 1979 seventh-place finisher " Mary Ann " in Jerusalem .
We always remember Alan Barton, this time of year Alan was a huge part of the Smokie family as well as the band's history and will always be sadly missed, by band members and fans alike. RIP Alan, never forgotten.

Tragedy. By 1995, Smokie were even stronger, with headlining tours booked across Europe. Tragically on their way to Dusseldorf airport the tour bus careered off the road in a freak hailstorm. There were three band members on the bus, Alan Silson, Terry Uttley and Alan Barton.
