Biografía. Daniel Michael Blake Day-Lewis proviene de una familia de escritores y cineastas. Su padre fue el poeta y guionista Nicholas Blake y su madre la actriz Jill Balcon. Fue a la escuela en Kent y Bristol y desde pequeño se interesó por las artes escénicas. Su debut cinematográfico lo hizo en la cinta Sunday Bloody Sunday en 1971.
