  4. Biography: Archibald Primrose was British Liberal Party Prime Minister for just 15 months (1894-95), only rising to the post after the resignation of William Gladstone, with whom he'd been politically aligned with since 1879 when he managed Gladstone's first campaign for office.

  5. Archibald was born 1847, the eldest son of Archibald, Lord Dalmeny, Member of Parliment, by Lady Catherine Lucy Wilhelmine Stanhope, daughter of the 4th Earl Stanhope. He was a Privy Counsellor, and was crowned Knight of the Order of the Garter in 1892, and the Order of the Thistle in 1895.
