Prince Bernhard of Lippe-Biesterfeld (later Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands; 29 June 1911 – 1 December 2004) was Prince of the Netherlands from 6 September 1948 to 30 April 1980 as the husband of Queen Juliana.

Prince Bernhard of Lippe (1872–1934), the younger brother of Leopold IV and father of prince consort Bernhard of Lippe-Biesterfeld, was born at Oberkassel and grew up there. Later he acquired castle Reckenwalde and an estate in East Brandenburg (today Wojnowo, Poland), where his son grew up.
Marriage and family. The Prince married Annette Sekrève in Utrecht on 6 July 2000. Prince Bernhard and Princess Annette have three children: Isabella, born in 2002, Samuel, born in 2004, and Benjamin, born in 2008. By Royal Decree the children bear the surname Van Vollenhoven. The family lives in Amsterdam.
