Síntesis biográfica. Nació el 16 de septiembre de 1886 en Estrasburgo, Alemania. Unos años después de la Guerra Franco-Prusiana ( 1870 - 1871 ), donde la zona pasó a manos de Alemania. Este hecho hizo que Jean dominara el francés y el alemán, firmando como Jean cuando escribía en francés y el de Hans Arp cuando lo hacía en alemán.

After studying at the Académie Julian in Paris, he moved to Munich in 1912, where he became friends with Kandinsky and was briefly involved with the German Expressionist group , Der Blaue Reiter (‘The Blue Rider’).

Jean Arp. Hans Peter Wilhelm Arp, poznatiji kao Jean Arp (16. septembar 1887. - 7. juni 1966), francuski slikar, kipar i pjesnik. Glavna figura avangardnog slikarstva 20. vijeka. Nakon studiranja na akademiji u Weimaru odlazi u Pariz, gdje pohađa akademiju Julian 1908. godine.
