Suffolk-born Constable helped to draw attention to the beauty of this part of the UK. His career was almost entirely devoted to landscape painting, similarly to the work of fellow Brit, JMW Turner.
John Constable’s rural life scenes gave dignity to the landscape genre and shaped the popular image of the English countryside. He developed an innovative way of representing nature by a direct observation of atmosphere and light effects and through a loose way of painting made of blots of color, in order to report the sensations aroused from nature.
