Biara Seckau diberkahi pada tahun 1140 oleh kanon Agustinian. Komunitas yang sudah ada di Sankt Marein bei Knittelfeld dipindahkan ke Seckau pada tahun 1142. Pendirian ini dibubarkan pada tahun 1782.
