Kassel, Germany. First mentioned in 913 as Chassala (Chassela), the town derived its name, usually spelled Casle in the late European Middle Ages, from the Latin-Franconian castella (“stronghold”). Probably a seat of the Franconian kings, it was chartered in 1180 and became the residence of the landgraves of Hesse about 1277.

2 de dic. de 2019 · Planned to visit a friend from the US who was in Germany for a few weeks and Kassel was the easiest place to meet. What a wonderful surprise that Documenta was happening, and also that we discovered treasures like this park and it's sculptures. We used the Izi app to choose a walking tour and it was delightful. The weather cooperated as well.
