What a wonderful surprise that Documenta was happening, and also that we discovered treasures like this park and it's sculptures. We used the Izi app to choose a walking tour and it was delightful. The weather cooperated as well.
Kassel, Germany. First mentioned in 913 as Chassala (Chassela), the town derived its name, usually spelled Casle in the late European Middle Ages, from the Latin-Franconian castella (“stronghold”). Probably a seat of the Franconian kings, it was chartered in 1180 and became the residence of the landgraves of Hesse about 1277.
