Blanchett explained how the Goddess of Death’s attire played a part in her role, “I’ve tried—with the makeup, hair people, and all of the different departments—to give her a kind of a visual journey so that she’s got somewhere to go as she becomes increasingly powerful.

But who is Hela exactly? Well, we could easily go down the Asgardian rabbit hole on a subject like this, since Hela is one of many characters based at least initially on a figure from Norse mythology.

This seems to line up with past reports indicating that she will star in an episode with both Odin and the Mandarin, while her Ten Rings-esque outfit could indicate she may even team up with the latter:

9 de mar. de 2017 · When Cate Blanchett takes on the role of Hela in Marvel Studio’s “Thor: Ragnarok,” the actress will become the first female villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s nine-year run. Hela, the Asgardian goddess of death, seems like an appropriate choice for the first villainous lady to really stir things up for the film’s protagonists Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Hulk (Mark Ruffalo).
