Nietzsche's grave. After many years of battling illness, Friedrich Nietzsche died on August 25, 1900 in Weimar. Three days later, his corpse was transferred to Röcken and buried in the family crypt on the south side of the church - with bells ringing and quotes from Zarathustra. Hence, his circle of life ended where it began - in Röcken.
Röcken. Röcken is a village and former municipality in the Burgenlandkreis district, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Since 1 July 2009, it has been part of the town of Lützen. In 1844 philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche was born in the village, where his father was the pastor. The house where he was born is still standing today.
